    Xbox One system settings

    Overview

This page describes the system settings on your Xbox One console. To access the system settings, navigate left on the Home screen to open the Xbox Guide, select Settings, and then select All settings.

    System settings

The system settings enable you to learn about and control some of your console’s core behavior.

    Console info and updates

Here you can find information you’ll need to register and troubleshoot your console, including the serial number, console ID, OS version, Xbox Live device ID, copyright information, and more.

    Name

This button allows you to set the device name, which will identify your console when there are multiple Xbox One consoles on the same network.

    Update info

This area allows you to view when your console last checked for an update, and when the last update was installed.

    Restore factory defaults

This option erases all accounts, apps, games, saved games (that haven’t been synced to the cloud), and settings, and then restarts the console.

Important This option should be used rarely and should not be considered a troubleshooting step.

    Language and location

The language and location settings allow you to change the language display information of your console. If you move to a different time zone or region, you should update your console settings here.

    Language

This setting controls the display language of your console. Some games and apps will also detect this setting and adjust their display language accordingly.

    Location

This setting controls your console region, including the region for Microsoft Store content.

    Spoken language

The spoken language setting determines the language that will be used for voice commands.

    Time

Here, you can set the time zone for your console.

    Time zone

This setting identifies the time zone to which your console is currently set.

    Automatically adjust for Daylight Saving

You can choose to have the console clock change automatically with Daylight Saving Time.

    System time

The system time settings are inaccessible (and will appear grayed out) while you're connected to Xbox Live. During those times, your console uses “net time,” which is automatically pulled from time servers online. The two time settings you can change when you’re not connected to Xbox Live are Time and Date.

    Storage

    Clear local saved games

This will clear out saved games from the console. This can be helpful if a game fails to launch because of a corrupted save.

    Clear local Xbox 360 storage

This will clear out saved Xbox 360 games and your profile from the console. This can be helpful if a game fails to launch due to a corrupted save.

Note You'll need to download your Xbox 360 profile again after using this.

    Internal/external storage

The tiles on the right represent the storage devices attached to your console. Highlight a device and then press A  to see a menu of options.
