Participate in a preview

When you participate in a preview, you’ll find that the Preview Details page in the Xbox Insider Hub is the best source for info. Participating in a preview might seem self-explanatory, but to get started, it's a good idea to check out Announcements for the latest news, and then head over to Quests.

The Preview Details page includes the following tabs:

  • Info: Basic information about the preview, including eligibility requirements.
  • Announcements: The latest news about the preview, including release notes, scheduled play times, and contests.
  • Quests: Scenarios that you can step through and provide feedback about the experience. Complete quests to earn XP.
  • Surveys: A quick way for you to send feedback to developers about a preview without walking through specific steps or scenarios. Complete surveys to earn XP.
  • Known issues: Read about problems that have already been reported in the preview, plus find tips and workarounds.

In addition to the tabs, you can use Quick Polls—short, multiple-choice ballots that let you send fast feedback. Find quick polls on the main page of the Xbox Insider Hub.

Earn Xbox Insider XP

Earning Xbox Insider XP helps you level up, unlock new Xbox Insider levels, and rocket up the leaderboards. By completing quests, surveys, quick polls, and other Xbox Insider Program activities, you earn XP. From time to time, Xbox Insider XP is used to determine preview availability for select Insider content.

View your Xbox Insider XP

Your Xbox Insider XP is the total of all XP you've earned, which affects your Xbox Insider level and ranking on the leaderboards. Your Xbox Insider XP displays on the Friends and Global Xbox Insider leaderboards.

Raise your Xbox Insider level

Your Xbox Insider level determines your rank in the Xbox Insider Program. Earn more XP to increase your Xbox Insider level and your rank. Your Xbox Insider level is displayed in your Xbox Insider profile on the Xbox Insider Hub landing page.

  1. Launch the Xbox Insider Hub.
  2. On the main page, select your Xbox Insider profile.
  3. Move down the page and select the Friends leaderboard or the Global leaderboard to view your ranking.

Xbox Insider Hub FAQ

My friend is eligible for a preview but I’m not. Why is that?

Not all previews will be available to all Xbox Insiders. Participants can be eligible for previews based on certain criteria including their interests, tenure as an Xbox Insider, Xbox Insider XP, previous participation in Insider previews, and other factors.

I’m not eligible for any previews. Is that normal?

Not all Xbox Insiders will be eligible for previews upon downloading the Xbox Insider Hub. However, you can increase your chances of being selected for future previews by completing the quests, surveys, quick polls, and reporting issues you find by using Report a problem on Xbox One and Windows Feedback Hub for providing feedback on Gaming & Xbox experiences on Windows 10.

My Xbox Insider XP or Xbox Insider level is incorrect. What can I do?

  1. Press the Xbox button  on the controller.
  2. From the power menu, select Report a problem.
  3. Select Add new problem.
  4. On the Select category screen, select Xbox Insider Program.
  5. On the Select sub-category screen, select the Xbox Insider Stats.
  6. In Title and Description, provide a title for the problem and a specific description of the discrepancy—in other words, what you’re seeing versus what you should be seeing.
  7. Select Done.
