The Rechargeable Battery Pack does not charge when it’s connected to your Xbox 360 Play & Charge Kit
The Xbox 360 Rechargeable Battery Pack might not charge when you connect the Xbox 360 Play & Charge Kit to the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller. This can happen for following reasons:
- The battery has reached the charge limit. (See the “More information” section.)
- There's a problem with the charge cable.
- There's a problem with the battery.
First, determine the recharging system part that is causing the problem:
- The Xbox 360 Wireless Controller
Try using AA batteries, or try a different Xbox 360 Rechargeable Battery Pack to verify that nothing is wrong with the controller. If the controller works with different batteries, your controller isn't causing the issue.
- The Xbox 360 Play & Charge cable
If you have another Play & Charge cable, try connecting it to charge the battery. If the battery charges correctly with a different charge cable, your charge cable is faulty.
- The rechargeable battery
Use a cotton swab and some isopropyl alcohol to clean the four gold contacts on the Xbox 360 Rechargeable Battery Pack and on the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller. Also, try a different Xbox Rechargeable Battery Pack with the charge cable. If the second battery charges correctly, your battery is faulty.
After you've determined which part is causing the problem, replace or exchange the faulty part.
Rechargeable batteries eventually wear out. The length of time that a rechargeable battery lasts depends on how frequently you use the battery and how frequently you charge it. If you use the battery frequently, the battery won't last as long as if you use the battery only occasionally.
