Error 800704CD occurs when downloading content from Xbox Live on Xbox 360

You see the following error code when you try to download content from Xbox Live on your Xbox 360 console:

    800704CD

    Solutions

To resolve this problem, try the following solutions.

Solution 1: Delete and then reinstall the game or app

    1. Go to settings, and then select System.
    2. Select Storage, and then select Memory Unit.
    3. Select Games and Apps.
    4. Find and select the game or app you want to delete.
    5. Select Delete.
    6. Redownload the game or app.

If the game or app you deleted was downloaded from Xbox Live:

      1. Go to Settings and select Account.
      2. Select Download History.
      3. Browse your download history. If you want to download your game or app again, select the item, and then select Download Again.

Note If you want to see the charges on your Xbox Live account, see Check your Xbox Live subscription and transaction history online.

If the game was installed from a disc, install the game again.

Solution 2: Delete your profile, clear the system cache, and then redownload the profile

Step 1: Delete the profile that’s stored on your Xbox console

    1. Go to settings and select System Settings.
    2. Select Storage.
    3. If you don’t connect any external storage devices to your console, select Hard Drive. If you do use external storage, select All Devices instead.
    4. Select Profiles.
    5. Select the profile you want to delete.
    6. Select Delete.
    7. Select Delete Profile Only. This deletes the profile but leaves saved games and achievements.

Important Do not select Delete Profile and Items. This deletes the profile and the associated games and achievements.

Step 2: Clear the system cache

    1. Press the Guide button on your controller.
    2. Go to settings and select System Settings.
    3. Select Storage or Memory.
    4. Highlight any storage device, and then press Y on your controller. (It doesn't matter which storage device you select; the cache will be cleared for all storage devices.)
    5. Select Clear System Cache.
    6. When prompted to confirm storage device maintenance, select Yes.
    7. Restart your console.

Step 3: Download your Xbox Live profile

    1. Press the Guide button on your controller.
    1. Select Download Profile.
Note If you don’t see the Download Profile option, it probably means you’re signed in to your profile. Press X to sign out.
    2. At the bottom of the Download Profile screen, select Download Profile.
    3. Enter the Microsoft account that’s associated with your Xbox Live gamertag. If you don’t know your Microsoft email address or password, see Find your Microsoft account email address or password.
Note If your account is an Xbox Live child account, you have to use the parent’s Microsoft account to download the profile.
    4.  If you use external storage on your console, select the device on which you want to save the profile. If you don’t use external storage, your profile will begin downloading immediately.

After your profile downloads, restart the console and then try your download again.

Solution 3: Troubleshoot your network connection

For information about how to troubleshoot your network connection, see Troubleshoot Xbox 360 connection to Xbox Live.

Solution 4: Troubleshoot your Xbox 360 Hard Drive

This issue can occur if your Xbox 360 Hard Drive is corrupted or full. See Troubleshoot Xbox 360 Hard Drives.
