You can keep track of pre-ordered games—and anything else you’ve purchased through the Microsoft Store or Xbox Store—by signing in to your Microsoft account. From there, select the Payment & billing tab, and then select Order history.
The Order history page allows you to easily view and manage your pre-orders in one place.
No matter when you’re charged for your pre-order, you’ll still be eligible for any pre-order incentives that may be included with the game. Check the game description in the Microsoft Store or Xbox Store to see if there are any pre-order incentives.
Some games offer incentives that are immediately available, while you may have to wait for other incentives until the game is released. If you don’t see an incentive right after you place your order, you can expect to receive it the same day that your pre-order is available.

If you used account credit only to pre-order your game, your balance will be taken immediately. If you used a credit card, or split your payment between credit card and account balance, you will be charged around 10 days before the game launches.
If your account balance is lower than the amount you authorized for pre-order billing, the remainder will be taken from your credit card. You’ll receive an email to your billing account confirming that the remaining card payment was collected successfully, and the game will be available for you to play on the day it launches.
We tried to collect a payment which was unsuccessful. If you don’t want to lose your pre-order or any incentives, follow the steps in the message you received, or the steps below:
If you don’t have another way to pay, we’ll try to collect payment from your payment method again before the game launches. Your pre-order will be cancelled if this is unsuccessful.
This section provides troubleshooting steps to help with problems you might experience with the background installation of your game.
You need an update to pre-order a game
If you get a message telling you that the title is powered by the latest Windows update, it means you’re running an earlier build of Windows 10.
To check which version of Windows 10 you need to be running, scroll down to the System Requirements section on the game detail page and look for the version next to OS. For example, this may show as “Windows 10 version 14393.102 or higher required.”
To see which version you’re currently running, go to Settings, then About, and then look for the OS Build.
To update to the latest version, go to Settings, then Windows Update, and then Check for updates.
Your game doesn't appear in My games & apps
If you don't see your game listed in My games & apps, and you've completed the pre-order process, you'll have to search for the game in the Store. If the original purchase completed successfully, you'll be able to download the game, and you won't have to pay again.
To search for the game in the Store:
If you don't see the Install option, or if you see a price listed for the purchase, don't purchase the game, as this might result in you being charged again.
To verify whether the original purchase was successful:
If your original purchase was successful, the transaction will be listed as "Completed." If you see a completed transaction for the game but don't see the option to install it on your console, contact Xbox Support.

When can I play my game?
You can play the game as soon as it's released in your region, usually shortly after 12:00 AM local time on the release date.
Note If you live in a country that has multiple time zones, there may be a delay in some zones.
Can I pre-order any game?
No. Only select games are available for pre-order.
I got a message saying that I don’t own the game when I try to launch it. What do I do?
This means that you have either cancelled the pre-order for your game, or we were unable to bill your payment method in time for the game launch. You will need to purchase the game.
