The Kinect sensor cable should be directly connected to the back of your Xbox 360 console. Do not use a USB hub or USB extension cable to connect the Kinect sensor to your console. See Kinect setup on Xbox 360.
If the sensor cable is not long enough for your conditions, you can use a Microsoft licensed extension cable.

To use a wireless adapter if you have a Kinect sensor:
This cable is included with most Kinect sensors. If you need one, you can order an Xbox 360 Kinect Extension Cable.
Unplug the Xbox 360 HD DVD Player from the back of your Xbox 360 console, and then plug it into a USB port on the front of the console.
Do not plug the Kinect sensor cable into the back of your Xbox 360 HD DVD player.
