Xbox 360 Dashboard displays text in the wrong language

When your Xbox 360 console is connected to Xbox Live, some text in the Xbox Dashboard appears in another language. For example, areas of the Home hub appear in a different language. This can occur when the language setting for your Xbox Live account doesn’t match the language setting on your Xbox 360 console. To resolve the issue, make sure the language settings on your Xbox 360 console and Xbox Live account are set to the same language.

Note The following Xbox Live features are not supported by the Xbox Live language setting but by your Xbox console’s language setting:

  • Xbox Dashboard channel names, such as My Xbox
  • Promotional content on various Xbox Live channels

Change your Xbox 360 console language

To change the language setting on your Xbox 360 console, follow these steps:

  1. Press the Guide button on your controller.
  2. Go to Settings, and then select System Settings.
  3. Select Console Settings.
  4. Select Language and Locale.
  5. Select Language.
  6. Select the language that you want to use.

Change your Xbox Live account language

You can change your Xbox Live account language if your country or region supports multiple languages (for example, Canada). For more information on how you can change your region, visit the Change the region of your Xbox Live account page.

Here’s how to change your Xbox Live account language:

  1. Go to Billing Account Information.
  2. Sign in using your Microsoft account.
  3. If multiple languages are supported for your country or region, select a language from Preferred Language.
Note The Preferred Language option does not appear if only one language is supported (for example, in the United States).
  4. Click Save.

It may take up to 24 hours for this change to take effect on your Xbox 360 console.

The following table shows the languages that are available to Xbox Live in specific countries or regions.
