Error 80153022 occurs when you use a prepaid code for an Xbox Live purchase
You see the following error message when you try to make a purchase on Xbox Live using a prepaid code:
Can't retrieve information from Xbox Live. Please try again later.
Status code: 80153022
This means one of the following:
- There’s a temporary issue with the Xbox Live service that’s preventing the purchase.
- You’re using a prepaid code that can’t be redeemed for your region.
To resolve this issue, try the following solutions.
Solution 1: Check the status of the Xbox Live service
During scheduled system maintenance or unforeseen Xbox Live issues, some Xbox Live features may not be available. To determine the Xbox Live service status, see Xbox Live service status.
Solution 2: Test the Xbox Live connection
If the previous solution didn’t resolve the issue, try testing your Xbox Live connection. To test your connection, follow these steps:
- Go to Settings and select System.
- Select Network Settings.
- Select Wired Network or the name of your wireless network, if you’re prompted to do so.
- Select Test Xbox Live Connection.
Solution 3: Check where the prepaid code was purchased
If the previous solution didn’t resolve the issue, check where the prepaid code was purchased. Some prepaid codes can’t be redeemed outside the country or region where they were purchased. Other prepaid codes, especially those purchased online, are intended to be sold and redeemed only in the United States. If you’ve purchased one of these prepaid codes and your account is in a different country, you might get this error.
