"Xbox Live sign-up or account download is currently unavailable" error occurs when using Xbox Live

You see the following error message when you use Xbox Live:

Xbox Live sign-up or account download is currently unavailable.

Please try again later.

This means that either the Xbox Live app you're trying to use or the Xbox Live service is experiencing problems.

Solutions

To resolve this problem, try the following solutions. If a solution doesn’t work, go to the next one.

Solution 1: Check the Xbox Live service status

Check the Service status page page to determine whether there's a current problem with the app or with Xbox Live. If you see a service alert, try again later.

Solution 2: Test your Xbox Live connection

  1. On your console, go to Settings and select System.
  2. Select Network Settings.
  3. Select Wired Network or your wireless network name (if you're prompted to do so).
  4. Select Test Xbox Live Connection.
  5. If you can't connect to Xbox Live, sign in with your Xbox Live gamertag.

Solution 3: Try the Xbox Live Connection Error Solution

If these solutions don’t resolve the problem, contact Xbox Support.
