Windows audio devices support a wide range of audio formats. Sometimes, incompatibilities with drivers or the audio software in Windows affect audio playback or recording. To try different audio formats:
Do either of the following:
Select the Start button, type control panel, select Control Panel, then select Sound.
On the taskbar, right-click on the sound icon (next to the date and time), then select Playback devices.
Right-click the default device (it’ll be check-marked), select Properties, then select the Advanced tab.
In Default Format, select the box to change the audio format. Once you’ve changed the format, check the playback by selecting Test.
