Connect the Xbox Adaptive Controller to Xbox One

There are a couple ways to connect your Xbox Adaptive Controller to a console—Xbox Wireless and USB-C cable. If you need help finding buttons and connection ports on the controller, see Get to know the Xbox Adaptive Controller.

Connect the Xbox Adaptive Controller wirelessly (Xbox Wireless)

  1. Turn on your Xbox.
  2. Turn on your controller by pressing the Xbox button . The Xbox button is in the upper left corner on the face of the controller. When you turn on the controller, the Xbox button will start flashing.
    Note If the controller doesn't turn on, you might need to charge it. For more info, see Charge the Xbox Adaptive Controller.
  3. Press and hold the Connect button on the Xbox.
    • On Xbox One X and Xbox One S, the Connect button is on the front right, below the power button.

  • On the original Xbox One, the Connect button is on the side, around the corner from the disc tray.

  1. Press and hold the Connect button on the back of the Controller (the raised button). The Xbox button on the controller will flash more rapidly—this means your controller is searching for a console. When connected, the Xbox button on the controller will stay lit.

Connect the Xbox Adaptive Controller using a USB-C cable

Plug the included USB-C cable into the back of your controller and then plug the other end into your Xbox. When connected, your console will automatically detect your controller and charge it. For more info, see Charge the Xbox Adaptive Controller.
