What you'll need


Broadband Internet

You’ll need a broadband Internet connection to complete the initial Xbox One setup and to use some of the most exciting features, apps, and games. Learn how to use our easy connection wizard to connect your Xbox One console to your home network.


Microsoft account

Your Microsoft account is the account that you use to manage your interactions with Xbox Live and other Microsoft services. This central account allows you to manage your purchases, billing information, and security from a single account. You’ll need a Microsoft account to set up Xbox One, so find out how to get one if you don’t have one already.


HDMI-capable TV

Xbox One’s HDMI output needs to connect to an HDMI-capable TV. To get the very best performance, make sure your TV and console are set to their highest-performing video resolution.

Living space setup

Connections and powering on

You’ll connect the power supply, the Kinect sensor, the HDMI input from your cable or satellite box, the HDMI output to your TV, and an Ethernet cable (if you’re using a wired Internet connection). Connect your supported cable or satellite box to Xbox One and watch all your favorite television shows right through the console. The OneGuide has your favorite channels, your favorite shows.
