Manage your payment options online

You can manage your Xbox Live payment options online. This page shows you how to add a new payment option, replace an existing one, or remove an old one.

Payment options include:

  • Credit cards
  • Prepaid credit cards
  • Debit cards (not available in all regions)
  • PayPal accounts (not available in all regions)
  • Direct debit (Germany only)

Note If you don't know your Microsoft account email address or password, use the Lost Account Solution or the Lost Password Solution.

Add a new Xbox Live payment option online

Add a new Xbox Live subscription payment option

Note If you want to add a new payment option for your Microsoft Store purchases only, use the steps in the section below.

It's easy to add a new payment option for your Xbox Live subscription. Here's how:

  1. In a browser, go to My Account.
  2. If needed, sign in to the Microsoft account you want to change.
  3. Select Services & subscriptions.
  4. In the Xbox Live section, under Paid with, select Change how you pay.
  5. Select Add a new way to pay, select Next, and then follow the steps to set up your credit card, debit card, or PayPal account as a new payment option.

Add a new payment option for your Microsoft Store purchases

Note If you use the same payment option for both your Microsoft Store purchases and your Xbox Live subscription, use the steps in the section above.

To add a new payment option for your Microsoft Store purchases only, use the following steps:

  1. In a browser, go to My Account.
  2. If needed, sign in to the Microsoft account you want to change.
  3. Select Payment & billing, and then select Payment options.
  4. Select Add a payment option, and then follow the steps to set up your credit card, debit card, or PayPal account as a new payment option.

Change an Xbox Live payment option online

It's easy to change your payment option. Here's how:

  1. In a browser, go to My Account.
  2. If needed, sign in to the Microsoft account you want to change.
  3. Select Services & subscriptions.
  4. In the Xbox Live section, under Paid with, select Change how you pay.
  5. On the “Change how you pay for these subscriptions" page, select the payment option to be changed from the dropdown list.
    Note To add a new payment option, select Add a new way to pay, select Next, and then follow the steps to set up your credit card, debit card, or PayPal account as a new payment option.
  6. Once you've selected the option to be changed, select Next, and then follow the instructions to change your payment option.

Remove an Xbox Live payment option online

Important If the payment option is used to pay for a subscription, you’ll need to first cancel your subscription before you can remove your payment option. For more information, see How to cancel your Xbox Live Gold subscription.

You can easily remove your payment option. Here's how:

  1. In a browser, go to My Account.
  2. If needed, sign in to the Microsoft account you want to change.
  3. Select Payment & billing, and then select Payment options.
  4. Select the payment option you want to delete, and then follow the instructions to remove your payment option.
