Error 80159018 occurs when you try to download your profile or connect to Xbox Live

You get the following error code when you try to download your profile or connect to Xbox Live:

80159018

This error might mean:

  • There's a network issue, either with Xbox Live or with your network connectivity.
  • The region you've designated in your account doesn't match the region you're in.

Solutions

To resolve this problem, try the following solutions.

Solution 1: Make sure your Microsoft account information is up to date

Make sure all of your Microsoft account information is current, including the region where you live. For more information, see Manage your Microsoft account FAQ.

If this solution doesn't resolve the problem, try the next solution.

Solution 2: Delete your Xbox Live profile, clear the system cache, and then redownload your profile

Here's how:

  1. Delete your Xbox Live profile.
    1. From the Xbox Dashboard, go to Settings and then System Settings.
    2. Select Storage.
    3. Select All Devices.
    4. Select Profiles.
    5. Select the gamertag for the profile that you want to delete.
    6. Select Delete.
    7. Select Delete Profile Only. This deletes the profile but leaves saved games and achievements.
  2. Clear the system cache to remove any corrupted data. For details, see How to clear the cache on Xbox 360.
  3. Download your Xbox Live profile:
    1. Press the Xbox Guide button (the large central button) on your controller.
    2. Select Download Profile.
    3. Enter the Microsoft account email address associated with your Xbox Live gamertag. If you don't know your Microsoft account credentials, see the Lost Account Solution or the Lost Password Solution.
    4. Enter your Microsoft account password. 
      Note If your account is an Xbox Live child account, the associated adult Microsoft account credentials must be provided to download the profile.
    5. Select the storage device for your profile. 
      Your profile will begin downloading. Once your profile is downloaded, you can select whether to require input of your Microsoft account password to sign in to your profile. The Remember Password option is turned off by default, which means you'll be prompted for your password whenever you sign in, unless you change this setting.

If this solution doesn't resolve the problem, try the next solution.
