Error 88151000 occurs when you sign in to Xbox Live on Xbox 360

You see the following error code when you sign in to Xbox Live on your Xbox 360 console:

Status code: 88151000

This may mean that your membership information did not download correctly.

Solutions

Solution 1: Redownload your profile

To resolve this issue, move and then redownload your profile. Here's how:

  1. Format a spare USB flash drive as an Xbox 360 Memory Unit.
  2. Move your profile to the USB flash drive. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Plug the USB flash drive into your console.
    2. Press the Guide button on your controller.
    3. Go to settingsSystem Settings, and then Storage.
    4. Select All Devices.
    5. Select Gamer Profiles, and then select your gamer profile.
    6. Select Move.
    7. Select the USB flash drive to which you want to move your profile.
    8. Remove the USB flash drive from your console.
  3. Redownload your profile. Here's how:
    1. Press the Guide button on your controller.
    2. Select Download Profile
      Note Not seeing Download Profile? This means that you're signed in under another profile. Press X to sign out, confirm, and then select Download Profile.
    3. At the bottom of the Download Profile screen, select Download Profile.
    4. Enter the Microsoft account that's associated with your Xbox Live profile. If you don't know your account email address or password, use the Lost Account Solution or the Lost Password Solution.
      Note If your account is an Xbox Live child account, the parent's Microsoft account information must be entered to download the profile.
    5. If you use external storage on your console, select the storage device to which you want to save the profile. If you don't use external storage, your profile will immediately begin downloading.

You should now be able to sign in using your Xbox Live profile on the console.

Important If you downloaded your profile to another console and you chose Remember Password, you have the option to remotely remove the password so that your profile can't be accessed by someone else on the other console. To learn how, see Manage your sign-in preferences on your Xbox 360 console.

If this doesn't resolve the issue, try the following solution.

Solution 2: Clear the system cache

To resolve this issue, clear the system cache. Here's how:

  1. Press the Guide button on your controller.
  2. Go to settings and select System Settings.
  3. Select Storage or Memory.
  4. Highlight any storage device, and then press Y on your controller. (It doesn't matter which storage device you select; the cache will be cleared for all storage devices.)
  5. Select Clear System Cache.
  6. When prompted to confirm storage device maintenance, select Yes.
  7. Restart your console.
