There are times when you might want to remove your Xbox profile from your Xbox 360 console and move it to another Xbox 360 console. For example, you may want to use your profile on a console at a friend’s house.
There are two ways you can move your Xbox profile between consoles. One way is to download it onto another console by following the instructions at How to add or remove an Xbox profile on Xbox 360.
Another way is to use a USB flash drive or an Xbox 360 Memory Unit. This page describes this method, as well as how to restore your Xbox profile to your own console once you’re done playing at a friend’s house. Here’s how:
Step 1: Remove your Xbox profile from your console
Note This process will permanently remove the Xbox profile from your console. You can move your profile back to your console by following the directions in Step 2.
Important When you move your Xbox profile to another console, you’ll be prompted for your Microsoft account password. This password requirement is to protect the security of your account if your storage device is lost or stolen. For more information on how to password protect your Xbox profile, see Manage your sign-in preferences on your Xbox 360 console.
Step 2: Move your Xbox profile back to your console
When you’re done playing on your friend’s console, take the USB flash drive or memory unit back home and plug it into your console. If you want to move your Xbox profile back to your hard drive, go back to settings, select System, select Storage, and then follow the prompts.
