Delete the passkey on your Xbox One console

If you need to change the security features on your Xbox One console, you must first remove your personal passkey. Learn how to delete it here. After you've deleted your passkey, you can create a new one.

Delete your passkey

Here's how:

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

The Guide is displayed on the left side of the Xbox Home screen.

Select Settings.

The settings icon is highlighted on the Guide.

Select All Settings.

The 'All Settings' option is highlighted under Settings.

Under Account, select Sign-in, security & passkey.

On the Account Settings screen, the 'Sign in, security & passkey' option is highlighted.

Select Delete my passkey.

The 'Delete my passkey' option is highlighted on the 'Sign-in, security & passkey' screen.

Update your sign-in preferences

Important If you previously configured your settings to require a passkey to make purchases or to change settings, your Xbox One will default to asking for your password unless you change your security preferences. Here's how:

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
Select Settings.
Select All Settings.
Under Account, select Sign-in, security & passkey.
Under Sign-in, security & passkey, select Change my sign-in & security preferences.

The 'Change my sign-in & security preferences' option is highlighted on the 'Sign-in, security & passkey' screen.

Scroll right and select No barriers. This will remove any passkey or password requirements that you had on settings or purchasing. If you prefer, you can select Customize and specify when you want to be asked for a password/passkey and when you don't want to be asked.
