Error C00000A3 and a flashing green light occur when using Kinect on Xbox 360

You see the following error code and message when you use your Kinect sensor:

    C00000A3

    The device is starting up

This error is accompanied by a flashing green light. If the light continues to flash for more than 90 seconds, you might need to restart your Xbox 360 console or the console software might need an update.

    Solutions

Solution 1: Turn off your Xbox 360 console, wait 90 seconds and restart

    1. Turn off your console.
    2. Wait 90 seconds.
    3. Restart your console.

If the flashing green light doesn't turn solid after 90 seconds, try the next solution.

Solution 2: Update your Xbox 360 console software

To see if your console software needs an update, follow these steps:

    1. Insert a Kinect game disc.
    2. Start the game from the Xbox Dashboard.
    3. If your console software needs updating, you will see the following message:

Update Required: An update has been found. To apply this update, you must restart your console.

    4. Select Yes, Restart to install the update.

Note If you don't have a Kinect game disc handy, see How to get a new Xbox 360 update for more update options.

    Solution 3: Request a repair

If the solutions above didn't resolve the problem, your Kinect sensor needs to be repaired. See Getting your Xbox console or Kinect sensor serviced.
