Error 80A40014 occurs on your Xbox console due to a Microsoft account issue

Your account is blocked If you’re having trouble signing into your console, see the Compromised Account Solution.
    Next

You see the following error message when you try to sign in to your profile on your Xbox One or Xbox 360 console:

Sorry, something's wrong with your Microsoft account. Go to https://account.live.com for help.

    Error code: 80A40014

This may mean that your Microsoft account has been temporarily suspended to protect you from fraud or abuse because spam or fraudulent activity has been detected.

    Solutions

To unblock your account, you will need to verify your ownership of the account.

Solution 1: Unblock your account online

    1. Go to https://account.live.com.
    2. Sign in to the blocked account with your Microsoft account email address and password.
    3. You’ll be asked to verify ownership of the account by allowing us to send a security code to an email address or phone number that you’ve provided as a security contact method. Choose one of the options in the drop-down box.
    4. Enter the security code that you received in the field provided.
    5. When prompted, change your password.
    6. Review your account information to make sure that no one has made any changes.

You will need your new password to sign in to your Xbox console.

Solution 2: Replace outdated security contact information

If you were unable to reset your password because you can’t access the security contact information on your account, follow these steps:

    1. Select I can't use any of these options from the drop-down box.
    2. Enter the Microsoft account that you’re trying to recover.
    3. Enter your contact email address.
    4. Tap or click Continue.
    5. Validate your identity by providing as much information as you can on the Microsoft account recovery page.
    6. Follow the instructions to finish.
    7. Review your account information to make sure that no one has made any changes.

Clear your profile from all consoles where it may have been saved (Xbox 360 only)

Once you’ve unblocked your account, you should clear your profile from all Xbox 360 consoles where you may have saved your profile to prevent any possible (or further) fraud.

    1. Sign in at any xbox.com page (such as this one) by using the link in the upper-right corner.
    2. Tap or click My Account.
    3. Tap or click Security, family & forums, and then tap or click Xbox 360 profile protection.
    4. Under VISITED CONSOLES, select Require profile download.
    5. Return to your console and try to sign in again.
