Manage network bandwidth for game downloads on Xbox One

If you’ve set your games to update automatically, chances are you’ve used a lot of network bandwidth recently.

Some internet service providers (ISPs) limit downloads to a certain number of gigabytes (GB) per month. If your games are up to date and you haven’t hit the data limits set by your ISP, it’s all good.

However, if you have a data cap and you’re close to your monthly limit, consider restricting your downloads to just the games you’re going to play soon.

  1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide, then select System > Settings > System > Updates.
  2. Clear the check box to keep your games and apps up to date.

You’ll be notified of available updates only when you launch a game or app, and you can choose whether to update now or wait for later.

To see which games and apps have available updates: Open the guide, select My games & apps > See all, and then select Updates.

If you restrict your downloads and then buy games or add-ons on your PC, they’ll no longer install automatically on your home Xbox. To install games that you bought off-console, go to My games & apps and select them in Ready to install. To install add-ons, highlight the game, press the Menu button on your controller, and choose Manage game & add-ons. Select the add-on to install it.
