Error code 80169E4D occurs when you try to redeem a digital code
Problem
You see the following error code and message when you try to redeem a digital code
Can't retrieve information from Xbox Live.
Status code: 80169E4D
This may mean that you’re trying to redeem a code that’s not “stackable” on top of your current membership type, such as an Elite Subscription digital code or a 12+1 month prepaid membership.
If you have a 12+1 month prepaid membership for Xbox Live Gold and you try to redeem another digital code for 12+1 months of Xbox Live Gold, you may get this error. Xbox Live Gold promotional membership codes cannot be added to similar memberships.
Additionally, the error can occur if you have an existing prepaid Call of Duty Elite Premium membership and you’re trying to redeem another code of the same kind. Call of Duty Elite digital codes are not stackable.
Solution
To work around this problem, try the following solution:
- Let the current digital code expire. You have to let the current digital code or membership expire before you apply the new digital code.
