Error 80153048 occurs when you redeem a code or download content on Xbox 360
You see the following error code and message when you try to download content on your Xbox 360 console:
Can't retrieve information from Xbox Live. Please try again later.
Status code: 80153048
This may mean that you already have a subscription for the prepaid code you're trying to redeem, or that there’s a problem with the billing information for your Microsoft account.
Note This issue can also occur if there is a temporary problem with the Xbox Live service.
To resolve this issue, try these solutions.
Solution 1: Check the Xbox Live service status
If you see any alerts here, wait until the service is up and running and try again:
Solution 2: Run the Xbox Live Connection Test
If there’s no issue with the service and you still get this error when you try to download content, follow these steps on your Xbox 360 console:
- Select settings.
- Select System.
- Select Network Settings.
- Select your network.
- Select Test Xbox Live Connection.
Solution 3: Verify the information for your Microsoft account
Verify the billing information for your Microsoft account from an Internet browser. To do this, follow these steps:
- Sign in to your Microsoft account.
- Select Payment & billing, and then select Payment options.
- Verify and update the information for each payment method.
- Select Payment & billing, and then select Billing info to verify the address on your account.
- Sign out of your Microsoft account, and then sign back in.
- Sign in to Xbox Live and try to download the content again.
Note If you're trying to use a prepaid code, it cannot be used or activated if your account has an outstanding balance or your payment option is expired or no longer valid. For more information, see How to pay a past due balance on an Xbox subscription.
