Error C00D11D6 occurs when using the Zune software

You get the following error when you’re using the Zune software:

Error code C00D11D6

This may mean that the Digital Rights Management (DRM) system on your computer is corrupted.

Solution

To solve this problem, upgrade your security component. Then, you may also have to reset your DRM system.

Try to upgrade your security component automatically

  1. Go to Security component upgrade. Log on as an administrator if you’re prompted to do so.
  2. On the page that opens, click Upgrade, and then follow the instructions on the page.

    Note If the Upgrade button is inactive, go to the “Manually upgrade your security component” section.

  3. Try signing in to Zune Marketplace or playing your content again to see if the problem is fixed.

If the problem is fixed, you’re done!

If the problem is not fixed, go to the “Reset the DRM” section.

Upgrade your security component manually

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Click Tools, and then click Internet Options.
  3. On the General tab, click Delete under Browsing History.
  4. Select all the check boxes in the window, and then click Delete.
  5. Click the Security tab, click Trusted Sites, and then click Sites.
  6. In the Search box, type *.microsoft.com, click Add, and then click Close.
  7. On the Security tab, click Custom Level.
  8. Under Reset custom settings, select Low, and then click Reset.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Click the Privacy tab.
  11. Click Sites.
  12. In the Address bar, type *.microsoft.com, and then click Allow.
  13. Click OK.
  14. Close all browser windows.
  15. Try signing in to Marketplace or playing your content again to see if the problem is fixed.

If the problem is fixed, you’re done!

If the problem is not fixed, go to the “Reset the DRM” section.

Reset the DRM

Note You don’t have to perform this step if the procedure in the “Upgrade your security component manually” section fixed the problem.

You may be able to resolve this problem automatically. Click the Fix this problem link. Then, click Run in the File Download dialog box and follow the steps in this wizard.

  • If you're currently not on the computer with the problem, you can save the automatic fix to a flash drive or a CD. Then, you run it on the computer with the problem later.

After you run this Fix it solution, the licenses should automatically refresh, and you should be able to play protected content.
